1.) Don't be a dumbass. This is the most important rule on the forums, and you will be banned for it. All other rules are merely clarifications on minor points of this giant, all encompassing rule.
2.) If you know absolutely nothing about spriting, this is not the place to get started. Try the Newbie's Corner link in the Main forum group.
3.) The list of don'ts:
- DON'T POST SPRITES THAT ARE NOT RIPPED OR SPRITED BY YOU, UNLESS YOU HAVE EXPRESS PERMISSION FROM THE SPRITER/RIPPER. I should not even have to put this, for fuck's sake you god damn idiots.
- Don't post requests in the submission forums
- Don't bump threads older than a month unless you have something substantive to add.
- Don't use AOL speak, unless you are Green Tea Dragon.
- Don't post threads in the wrong forum, they're all clearly labelled.
- Don't post useless threads at all. "Post your favorite X" threads are useless because nobody reads them, everyone just posts in them. Oh hell, do it in Knee Stabbing if you really want to.
- Don't post non-awesome submissions in the Awesubmissions forum, you will be banned.
- Don't post introduction threads, that's stupid. Just lurk for a few days and get comfortable before posting.
- Don't confuse an admin for a normal member. This is suicidal.
4.) Double post if you really want to, but don't continually bump a thread.
5.) You can swear here, this isn't a kids' board. It's a surly, bitter, college student board.
6.) If you say something stupid, you may get a stupid title. You will also start off with a stupid title. This is normal and you should probably get used to it.
7.) This isn't a kids' board. It's a surly, bitter, college student board. It's also a forum for somewhat advanced spriters, I'm not saying we're all Picassos here but we have our standards and we try to maintain some level of quality.
*.) Crazy catch all: You can be banned at any time for any reason at all.

IMPORTANT! READ ME BEFORE POSTING SPRITES!
Important: General rules: We at TPS have a few ground rules that we ask that you follow, these are fairly straightforward and simple.
1. File Types: This seems to be one of our largest problems, although most people are smart enough not to send us files in JPG, many of them have no problem sending us BMPs, or BMPs renamed to GIF, this is unacceptabe, files like this will be deleted by any and all staff members on sight, large uncompressed files like this require conversion, take forever to load, and creates more work for the people working on the site. It shows a lack of consideration for the site and it's members.
IF YOU ARE SAVING YOUR SPRITES WITH MSPAINT SAVE THEM ONLY AS PNG
MSPAINT DOES NOT SAVE GIFS PROPERLY
2. Sigs: Another problem we tend to encounter, FB20XL, unlike TPS, encourages sigs on spritesheets. We don't like large sigs, we don't like sigs at all, although, on occasion, we have been known to leave them attached, for one reason or another. We reserve the right to alter or remove sigs from spritesheets, also, if a sig requests something that is in direct opposition of the section's terms of use, and it has not been removed or altered, the request is to be ignored. (Example: If a sig says you must give credit, to use sprites on a sheet in Game Sprites, you don't have to, submitters are to know this before sending spritesheets in.)
3. Your Charachters: We don't take custom charachters, we don't want a spritesheet of you, your friend, or your furry robot porn tank. While we do have a few sheets of custom charachters, such as Ran and Deccus, one must acknowledge that they are well known and respected spriters, they got in on the ground floor of TPS, and they're friends with the webmasters.
4. Freedom of use: Please remember, again, that TPS is NOT FB20XL, and as such, our site has different goals, in fact, this site was founded on the idea that sprite use should have NO strings attached, and although we do have a section that accomidates such requests, GS, PD, and Backgrounds, are to be free to use, under any and all circumstances.
Game Sprites - This is pretty straightforward, credit is given to those who ripped the sprites, so we need to know who to give credit to, don't steal sprites and claim them as your own, we'll know, we always know. We also need to know what game the sprites are from, again this is pretty straightforward basic stuff. Finally, we need to know who the character(s) is/are. Remember, anyone who uses the sprites is not required to give credit to the ripper, since it is the work of whatever company put out the game.
The Gallery - This section is fairly straightforward, sprites here are not to be used by anyone under any circumstances. Sprites are only added to the gallery if they pass the Awesubmissions challenge. When submitting, we need to know who the sprite(s) is/are of. We also need to know, what, if anything, you used as a base, and again we need to know who to give credit to. Do not e-mail TPS asking to use these sprites, it is not our decision to make, and no we can't contact the spriter for you.
PD Sprites - PD is my favorite section. It is a section of the site where people can submit custom sprites for public use, without any stipulations. Essentially, treat these sprites as you would a sprite from Game Sprites, without any of that giving credit or asking permission or any other ridiculous conditions of use that spriters often tend to like to attach to their work. Again, quite simple, we need to know who the sprite(s) is/ are of, who to give credit to, and what series the character is from.
Backgrounds - The Backgrounds section submission rules are pretty much like the other sections, ripper name, game name, and level or area name the backgrounds occur in if possible. If you have a lot of backgrounds, put them in a zip before mailing them in or posting them.
